When to Join?
We accept new members at the start of each new event rehearsal period, generally around January, June, and October.​
Aspiring members are welcome to attend rehearsals on a trial basis for the first two weeks.
Do I need to Auditon?
BCOS is an inclusive society and we do not require new members to audition in order to join. However, new and returning members wishing to take part in performances as singing members will be required to take a simple singing test.
Those who wish to perform a principal role in our theatrical shows, or sing solos in our concerts, will need to audition.
Auditions at BCOS are open to everyone in the society, and both auditioning and non-auditioning members come to show their support to their fellow members.

What are the Rehearsal Commitments?
Although we are an amateur choir, the quality of our performances is very important to us. We hope members will be able to make it to every rehearsal, but we’re realistic enough to know that life gets in the way.
To perform in one of our concerts we ask for a minimum attendance of rehearsals each term (typically 75%), with the final rehearsal on the afternoon of the concert being mandatory. If you know can’t make the concert day, you can still join us on a Wednesday to sing and enjoy the evening!
For full theatrical performances, the final full rehearsal, and show week (tech run, dress run, and all performance dates) are mandatory.

What are Sub Fees?
All performers in an event are required to pay sub fees which help cover our basic fixed weekly operating costs (rent, insurance, MD, Accompanist).
Fees vary depending on the length of the rehearsal period, but generally work out at roughly £4 a rehearsal.​
Subscription rates for each term will be payable within the first three weeks of the start of the term.​
Students in Full-time education (16+) at the start of the calendar year pay a reduced subscription
